Perhaps it's a map that whose significance could be too easily overlooked. While the hand colored states and territories include very familiar boundaries, save for Dakota and the Indian Territory, this is a nation that has experienced profound evolution in the previous decades, and now shines the spotlight on its technological infrastructure. While only a handful of rail lines actually appear in the West, and only one connects to California, there are many proposed lines that will change that in the years to come. These advances in rail will transform the West and the nation and continue to feed new settlement. This map does show the major cities and towns, as well as forts and major water ways. Condition is good with some marginal staining, but mostly outside the neatline. Image size is approximately 16.5 x 26.5 (inches) $145.00
