After seeing the migrations of U.S. population that happened around WWII, Dr Pearcy began to think earnestly about the "why" behind state boundaries. Considering that these were boundaries erected in the 18th and 19th centuries with vastly different causes and pressures than what existed today, couldn't there be better alternatives? After considering things like population density, metropolitan areas, state size, rivers, etc, he came up with a rethinking of the state borders for the U.S. With a map in the center that shows the entire configuration, he does a short description and map for the new states, with something of the reasoning for it. An interesting re-imagining of the nation. (But I still don't think this is how you would divide California). Condition is good. 47pgs. Overall size is approximately 10 x 8 (inches)
