(U.S.- Thematic) (Untitled U.S. Films), Anon., c. 2011 Location and backdrop can be an integral part of a film to where it almost couldn't happen anywhere else. Alaska was perhaps the biggest character in "Alone in the Wilderness". "The Blues Brothers" wouldn't have worked in Wyoming. Nor would "Twister" work in Maine. But the story and dynamics of Cormac McCarthy's "No Country For Old Men", is perfect for Texas, indeed it distills something of Texas life at the time. This map captures some of the bigger films of the last seventy-odd years, and how the stories were tied to a state or region. They grow out of a certain regional culture and supply a fertile ground for the arc of a movie. An uncommon artifact of uniquely American cinema, as the industry evolves. Condition is very good with some minor dings and light misfolds, minor scuffing. Overall size is approximately 24 x 36 (inches)
