It's a foundational depiction of the nation for the period that even mentions how it utilizes the work of "Lewis & Clark and Pike" as well as that of "Major Long" in showing the western reaches of the nation. And indeed at the headwaters of the Arkansas river we see a lone "Highest Peak" looming where Pikes Peak is today. In the upper Midwest, a "Michigan Terry." consumes almost both shores of Lake Michigan as it sits next to a large "North West Terry." Here, the "Arkansa Territory" extends along the Mexican border of the southwest, and a massive "Misso Territory" reaches up to the nation's northern border. Shows cities, towns, roads, drainages and something of the major terrain. Some sparse notations of native tribes of villages "Gr. Osage Vill., Pawnee Loop Vill". Condition is good with some bold original hand color, some foxing, some misfold to the centerfold, and some small repairs. Image size is approximately 17 x 21.25 (inches) $550.00
