Untitled US - Glances At Our Moral and Social Statistics..
This little unassuming map was published in Harper's Monthly, the work of James Dunwoody Brownson De Bow, it is a lot more important than it might appear at first glance. Based off of the 1850's census this map was part of an article that was thematically looking at the demographics of the nation. In this way it's one of the first thematic maps to wrestle with the issues of the nation's composition. This map is complete with its text of five additional pages. An important rarity.
Condition is good with some light foxing. Image size is approximately 4 x 8.5 (inches)
