  • (U.S. - West) A New Map Of The United States. Upon Which Are Delineated Its Vast Works Of Internal communication, Routes Across The Continent &c. Showing Also Canada and the Island of Cuba., Williams, 1854
For the traveler, a large folding map to focus on the major roads and still developing railroads of the country. Works at how to access and cross the frontier of the West and shows not just the Oregon and Santa Fe trails as they leave Missouri and begin into the plains, but also shows the army routes from Ft Smith to Santa Fe and to Donna Ana New Mexico. Just prior to the Kansas-Nebraska act implementation, here we see a large "Part Of The North-West Tery." covering the northern plains, below it a massive "Nebraska" territory, and an "Indian Terry." just above Texas. A large inset shows the large territories of the West as they were, with a California boasting a "Gold Region" throughout the northern central valley. Condition is very good with very bright original hand color. Typically close right margin. Image size is approximately 24.25 x 29.25 (inches)
