This unusual map shows all of the current United States but before the acquisition of Texas and the Southwest and when even Oregon's future was unclear. The territories include Michigan, North West (Wisconsin-Minnesota) and Arkansas. Most of the great plains are contained in the Missouri Territory. British Columbia is called New Caledonia and Texas is named. In the southwest the River Buenaventura River flows into the Great Salt Lake. A note says the western limits of that lake is unknown but a conjectural river flows from that lake to San Francisco Bay and a note suggests this will be the communication link between the Atlantic and Pacific. There are various small numbers on the map suggesting a key but it is hard to understand what they stand for. An unusual map with some foresight or good guesswork.

Margins trimmed close, soiling and repair along the centerfold. 10.5x16, outline hand color.
