Shows the expansive territories that covered from the Mississippi River to the California coast noting major cities and forts, as well as giving the general population for each territory. Notes the location of many Indian tribes, and still shows the areas from the Texas panhandle to what would later be the western panhandle of Nebraska as the "Great American Desert".
