A detailed treatment of the watersheds and terrain of the the greater West, with the state and territory boundaries and a handful of dotted lines that show the railroad lines present at the time. Just thirty years prior and it had been swaths of large territories and ran to the continental divide and were barely populated with settlers, now 19 states and territories were slowly growing as railroads begin to expand, and offer infrastructure to travel and development.
