(West) Territory of Oregon, Hood, 1838 At this time Oregon was jointly occupied by Britain and the United States. The Hudson's Bay Co. had moved aggressively into the region and the map was issued as part of a plea to Congress to act to encourage immigration in order to save the region from these "interlopers". Does show the onetime southern boudary of 1819 and the northern border from 1818. A great engraved map and an interesting reflection on the best knowledge of the time. Condition is good with an old opening tear that was repaired without loss into the left edge. Some minor fold repairs, without loss. Image size is approximately 17.5 x 20.75 (inches)
