A fine engraving from a very notable early 19th century French cartographer. Here, Lapie's updated perspective of the world, centered not on the Atlantic Ocean, Europe, or the Americas, but on the frontier of the time, the Pacific Ocean and Oceania. Notes the islands and major placenames, as well as continental interiors as they were understood. Interestingly does show Australia as "Notasie ou Nouvelle Hollande".
Condition is very good. Image size is 16 x 21.5 (inches)
