(World) Townsend's Patent Folding Globe
The advertising testimonials perhaps sum it best, “I do not see that it is in any respect inferior in practical value to Globes of the old sort costing several times as much”. Composed of heavy paper, this strategically created globe flattens out to be stored in its flat board covers, or can be pulled open to hang on its thick wire stand. A simple metal armature inside can be engaged to hold the globe open, and unhinges to collapse. Condition is good with small scrapes and dings, but none marring the image. An ingenous little novelty.
7 inch globe when opened, full hand color
