The Russian Front
The air age brought about a shift in perspective that spawned rethinking of regions, relationships and vulnerabilities. This map from a series that looked at the lay of the land in the midst of WWII is a fine exmaple, showing Russia, its cities and railroads and proximity to its neighbors. With England at the top, and north to the right, we see a Europe that is mostly flat and without physical barriers from Berlin to Leningrad and the Black Sea. An interesting view on Russia and its may routes westward.
