From the Normandy and Brittany Campaigns, through the battles of the Bulge, the Ardennes, crossing of the Rhine and finally the linkup with Russian soldiers on May 7 of 1945. It is a bright and simplified image, that distills not the trauma of war, its costs and complications, but is a gesture of completion.
