Southeastern Asia
The air age brought about a shift in perspective that spawned rethinking of regions, relationships and vulnerabilities. This map from a series that looked at the lay of the land in the midst of WWII is a fine example, showing Southeast Asia, its cities and railroads and proximity to its neighbors. With China and "Formosa" at the top and with Malaysia and Singapore in the lower right, it spans northward to India and Mongolia.
